Welcome

Welcome!

Thanks for opening up this website for First Presbyterian Church of La Grange, Texas.  You are just a few clicks away from seeing our folks involved in the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ right here in this south central Texas town. We are proud of the way we incorporate our Food Pantry collections into our Sunday morning worship experiences. We are pleased with our volunteers who serve at the Second Chance Emporium, our local resale shop. We are a multi-generational congregation with resources to care for and to challenge both the youth and the seniors who make up our membership. We are a people who are faithful to God’s revealed Word in Jesus Christ, and we are a people who “have fun doing good things” for others.

If you are not familiar with the Presbyterian Church, I do orientation classes on the history and doctrines of Presbyterianism. We are an inclusive, welcoming congregation and we have a place just for you. So c’mon … check us out; you will be glad you did!

Blessings,

Rev. Jerry Hurst, D.Min.

Martha Langford is a native Houstonian and a graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Prior to coming to Rochester and Third Presbyterian Church in August 2008, she served as a Pastoral Resident at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago. This two-year residency is part of the Lilly Endowment’s Transition into ministry program.

Martha holds a BS degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University and served five years as a Communications Officer in the United States Army. During the six years before entering seminary, she served as the Director of Communications for the Presbytery of New Covenant in Houston.

A “cradle” Presbyterian, Martha loves reading, writing, hiking, home improvements, and city living. Her daughter, Carolyn Kelly, lives and works in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
