As the letter to the Hebrews closes, we hear this summary of sorts about what the life of discipleship looks like: Love and hospitality, empathy and fidelity, contentment, trust in God, and a generosity of spirit. I believe that the preacher knew all too well how easy it is to stray from this path, so he reminds the Hebrews (and us) that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our paths might stray, but his course is constant waiting for our return whenever we lose our way.
