Description
Paul urges Timothy to continue in the way that he has started. He points him to the sacred writings that have taught him about Jesus Christ, and reminds him of the usefulness of scripture in cultivating a godly life. There is not question for Paul as to the authority of scripture and he urges Timothy to cling to its message—especially when other voices present a word that is easier or more appealing but is not the gospel of life.
