Second Chance Emporium

What is Second Chance Emporium?

Second Chance is a non-profit resale store in La Grange, Texas that serves all of Fayette County. It is an ecumenical ministry supported by eight local churches. The store has a small paid staff who manage store operations and a large volunteer work force who sort, stock, and sell donated merchandice. Volunteers come from member church and the community at large.

Second Chance accepts donations from the public of clothing, shoes, household goods, and furniture that is in good, working condition. It resells the items at very low prices as a direct benefit for low income members of our community. Net proceeds from sales are then given as grant funding to local non-profit organizations.

Grant approval decisions are made by the Second Chance Emporium's Board of Directors. Since opening its doors at the end of April 1996, Second Chance has provided more than $2 million dollars in grant funding to area agencies.

Forced to relocate after Hurricane Harvey in 2017, the Board looks forward to the completion of a new facilities in the fall of 2019.
