SERMON NOTES: This is not a theological debate. Paul is not concerned about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Yet, he does not hesitate to explain what is at stake when community members question whether resurrection will happen for them. This fervent argument makes its appearance in the early creeds, "I believe... in the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting." The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ are at the heart of the transformation God is making in the world... the transformation that God is making in us. Paul wants us to know that we are held fast in God's gracious hand—made alive in Jesus Christ. Clinging to this hope, we dare to ask—what is God raising up in us today?
