This Jesus story—the transfiguration—comes to us each year right before the Lenten Season. Jesus  takes three disciples up the mountain. They watch as Jesus begins to shine like the sun and talks with Moses and Elijah. Peter, being Peter makes an awkward suggestion to be silenced by a voice from heaven. We might be awed by the revealed majesty of the Christ, bemused by the appearance of past heroes. Thankful (once again) for Peter's misplace enthusiasm. There is light and weight to every element of this story, yet this year, I keep hearing God's voice, "Listen to him!" finding in it the most illuminating detail of all.
