Something in Common
Description
In this twelfth chapter of 1 Corinthians the apostle Paul is comparing Christ's spiritual body, the church, to the human body. Just as the human body consists of many different parts, so does Christ's body consist of many diverse members (coming from different backgrounds, possessing different spiritual gifts, etc.) Matthew 5:29-30 in the Bible's New Testament Sermon on the Mount conveys a challenging message that people should take seriously anything in their lives that tempts them to sin and stray from God. Jesus says that people should be willing to separate themselves from such things, even if they seem valuable, and that it's better to lose a body part than risk going to hell.
