The Son of Man will come and sit on the throne of his glory. This week we hear a parable of Christ the King and it's a parable of judgement. Sheep and goats are separated in ways that perhaps make us a little queasy... How much sheep-ing must we do, we might ask, because the alternative seems pretty grim. It is telling that no one seems to know that Jesus is present, but consider what Jesus says. Jesus is visible to us in the people who live a marginal existence. Jesus is here, and we are called to see him. Seeing him, we are called to act with compassion and justice. When we put our faith into action, it becomes a living thing even as we are enlivened with eternal life.
