PASTOR'S PREVIEW: The story of Ruth hints at the ways God is present in our lives—moving us in love and compassion, courage and resilience, and then surprising us with joy. Boaz blesses Ruth as one who now lives in the shelter of God's care. In this chapter, Ruth calls on Boaz to be the fulfillment of that blessing. In the shelter of his mantle--Ruth AND Naomi AND Boaz find wholeness and redemption. Naomi's arms are filled with a grandson. Boaz and Ruth take their place in the lineage of Jesus, the kinsman who will spread his mantle wide in the redemption of the world.
