Sermon: When the Blind See

PASTOR'S PREVIEW: Once again, Jesus encounters a petitioner as he is leaving a city. Once again, Jesus responds to a request with a question. "What do you want me to do for you?" This time, the crowd is involved—and it's as if the question comes to them (and us) as well. "What do you want me to do..." The text says Jesus "saves" Bartimaeus; heals him, restores his sight. And I wonder, are we with Bartimaeus as he cries for mercy? Are we part of the discouraging crowd? Are we the ones embracing salvation, leaving the familiar to journey with Jesus?
